Recipe disclaimer
What our recipes, nutrition figures and labels can and cannot tell you.
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Nomisto publishes recipes and cooking information for home cooks. It is general information, not professional, medical, nutritional or dietary advice.
Nutrition figures are estimates
Nutrition panels are labelled "estimated per serving". We calculate them from ingredient weights using standard reference values (USDA FoodData Central). Actual values change with the brands you buy, exact quantities, portion size and cooking method. If you need exact figures for a medical condition, such as diabetes or kidney disease, or for weight management, please speak to a doctor or registered dietitian.
Allergens
Recipes may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts (cashews, almonds), sesame, wheat and gluten, soy, mustard, fish and shellfish. Asafoetida (hing) is often blended with wheat flour. Always read the labels on your own ingredients; we cannot know what is in the products you buy.
Diet labels
Labels such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or high-protein describe the recipe as written, using typical ingredients. Check packaged ingredients yourself, especially if you follow a diet for medical or religious reasons.
Food safety
- Cook chicken until the thickest part reaches 74 °C (165 °F), and minced meat to 71 °C (160 °F).
- Cool cooked rice quickly and refrigerate within an hour; reheat it only once, until piping hot.
- Fermented batters such as idli and dosa batter should smell pleasantly sour. Discard any batter that smells off, shows mould or has been left too long in a hot kitchen.
- Raw or lightly cooked eggs are not recommended for pregnant women, young children, older people or anyone with a weakened immune system.
- Hot oil, pressure cookers and sharp knives need care. Follow your appliance's instructions.
Results vary
Timings and temperatures are guides. Stoves, ovens, pans and ingredients differ, so use the visual cues in each step as well as the clock. Some photographs are AI-generated illustrations, as our editorial policy explains, so your dish may look different.
